The origin of Bharath Beedi Works Pvt. Ltd goes back to the year 1930 in the town Karkala.
Sri B. Manjunath Pai, who was seventeen years old then, rented out a small shop in front of the Venkataramana Temple.
Sri Manjunath Pai rolled beedies with his own hands by night and sold them during the day, in and around Karkala. The only capital he had to speak of was thirty rupees by the way of money and a bicycle. |
